“I have to be honest with you—I don’t bake myself much in the sun these days,” says Gucci of the inspiration behind her Beauty Butter Bronzer—the on-set staple she reaches for to give Hollywood clients like Anne Hathaway and Alicia Vikander the look of radiant, supernatural skin. Instead, she’s got an easy three-step process that starts with the velvety, hydrating formula and gives “a little bit of color to your face, a little glow,” minus the photo-aging UV side effects.

The whole thing starts when she cracks open her little gold bronzing compact to reveal the sun-kissed shade inside.  “There’s no sparkle, so you can wear it all over,” says Gucci of the cream-powder hybrid, which contains lush plant seed butters and bio-mimicry technology to keep skin looking dewy and real, not powdery.

Swishing a brush against her hand to remove any excess, she shares the technique she swears by: “Instead of following your cheekbones, I go horizontally across—that way it looks more authentic,” she says before taking a minute to check her work. “Now, I have some life!”

A sweep of Super Loaded Tinted Highlighter ”smells amazing, like you’re at the beach”—and because vacation skin calls for a finishing pop of bright color, she also likes to add blush. “This is Jennifer Aniston’s favorite shade!” she says of her Baby Cheeks stick in Poppet.  “She always says ‘what is that pretty pink you use to make my cheeks look like that?”

But Gucci’s other go-to trick comes from a different pop culture legend. “Simon Le Bon taught me that if you add a little bit of this kind of fuchsia color to the center of your lips, it makes them look juicy—I think he’s right,” she says of patting the same creamy cheek shade on the mouth. But the only makeup rule she really lives by? “It should only take a second—and it should make you feel good.”
