Gucci's favorite nudes from the J.Hannah nail collection. From left, Agnes, Akoya, Himalayan Salt, Chanterelle, and Dune.

When the cult favorite Los Angeles-based jewelry designer Jess Hannah began showing off her handmade signet rings and chain bracelets a few years ago, she decided that she needed equally elegant nails to match. But the fire engine reds and prismatic sparkles on offer at her local nail salon didn’t fit her less-is-more aesthetic, so she did as any young entrepreneur would do and dreamt up her own line of chic, nuanced, non-toxic polishes—which is quickly becoming our go-to alternative to a bare, buffed manicure this fall.

Inspired by artists’ palettes and natural elements, J. Hannah’s carefully curated line consists of 18 hushed hues, ranging from Himalayan Salt’s pink quartz to Dune’s desert sand (proceeds of which are donated to a collective of human rights non-profits). Other top picks include Agnes, a pale homage to the painter Agnes Martin; Chanterelle, an earthy nude that takes its name from the beloved mushroom; and Akoya, a transparent shade of pearl that will lend a festive touch to even the most minimalist of ensembles.

Made without harmful ingredients such as formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, and camphor, all of the lacquers are locally-made and lovingly labeled. As for holiday gifting? The jewelry house has just launched a miniature collection of five pitch perfect shades in a reusable mesh zipper pouch. Happy painting.

J. Hannah nail polishes, $19 each, available at j.hannahjewelry.com
